A beautiful corner of the world, full of opportunities

Joan Forret, Trustee, Momentum Waikato.

I am a proud Waikato resident. I was born in Huntly, grew up in Hamilton, obtained my law degree from The University of Waikato and have worked as an environment and planning lawyer for over 20 years. I am also a very keen traveler, both within New Zealand and elsewhere.

All of us are shaped by our life experiences and mine have enhanced my belief in the strength and richness of the Waikato and its many varied communities.  We are privileged to live in a beautiful corner of the world, one which offers so many opportunities for growth and development in all the ways expected by modern society.

However, our communities also need support to thrive, and some of that support comes from the generosity of those who give of their time and money to volunteer for charitable causes. I am proud to be a Momentum Waikato Trustee and to be able to share my professional skills and support as a volunteer in support of building ‘A Better Waikato for Everyone, Forever’.

Momentum Waikato is a recognised and trusted vehicle for managing purpose-based funds to support a wide variety of positive outcomes within the Waikato.  As trustees we are responsible for ensuring those funds grow and give effect to the donors’ intentions, and that responsibility requires careful governance.

I am committed to ensuring that Momentum Waikato can continue to achieve excellent outcomes within our community and to encourage generosity, in all of its forms, for the benefit of all who choose to live here.
