Hamilton CBD Development Fund

Donations to the Hamilton CBD Development Fund grow funding for projects that enhance the city centre experience.

Hamilton is a great place to live, work and play, a cosmopolitan city at the heart of one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world, the capital of the Waikato.

To accelerate and enhance the development of Hamilton’s CBD, leading construction company Foster Group set up the Hamilton CBD Development Fund. Local businesses, corporate offices and philanthropists keen to support the public’s experience of the city’s downtown have also donated.

“Fosters is all about creating ‘great communities through strong foundations’,” says Director Leonard Gardner.

“As a proud Waikato company, we want to give back to the city that enables our success and is home to most of our dedicated team and their families.”

The Fund enables improvements in the urban environment that would not occur under the usual funding processes. It gives businesses the opportunity to link to transformational projects that enhance the vibrancy and attractiveness of the city centre, including greater connection to the Waikato River.

Local firms keen to see the CBD play a bigger part in attracting talent to the Waikato are particularly encouraged to join Fosters in supporting the Hamilton CBD Development Fund.

The CBD Fund’s Disbursements Group, which identifies the projects it will support, brings together Foster Group, the Waikato Chamber of Commerce, the Hamilton Central Business Association and the Waikato Branch of the Property Council. Any contributor that donates over $25,000 in a given year is invited to join the Disbursements Group for that year.

All donations of $5 or more are tax deductible. You will receive a donation receipt that can be submitted to the IRD at the end of the tax year for a 33% tax rebate.
