Craigs Christmas Giving targets seasonal challenges

Each year Craigs Investment Partners donates a total of $150,000 through its Christmas Giving initiative to a range of charitable groups across the country.

The investment firm places immense value on supporting the local communities it’s a part of, so community giving is very much in the fabric of their business. Founder Neil Craig was instrumental in creating the Christmas Giving programme.

“Our local Craigs branches work with the Community Foundation in their area to determine where our donations will be best put to use. Their community insight is invaluable to ensure our donations will have the biggest impact for our local charities,” says Neil.

Momentum Waikato, the region’s community foundation, enjoys this annual Christmas quest alongside its investment partners – we love honouring and connecting with hard-working frontline community groups to get useful sums into their hands with minimum fuss and effort.

This year six groups across the Waikato have received grants from Craigs Christmas Giving, a diverse range of charitable organisations that are particularly busy during the holiday season.

Special Children’s Christmas Parties – support for the annual Christmas Party (pictured above and below) held for special children who live with life-threatening illness, physical or intellectual impairment, domestic violence, or are in underprivileged circumstances.

Tairua Care and Friendship Club – support for transport service for elderly residents after closure of the Kopu-Hikuai road and community lunches.

The Serve Trust – support for serving evening meals 365-days-a-year in Hamilton, rescuing and redistributing food and household resources to members of our community in hardship, and providing a space where people can come together in a welcoming environment.

Te Whanau Putahi Community Centre – support to keep the Fairfield public pool in Hamilton open this summer, which are used by many local children to develop swimming skills and enjoy the summer months.

SPCA Waikato – support for the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in need over the Christmas-New Year holiday period, the annual peak period for the dumping of pets.

Hamilton Land Search and Rescue – support for rescue service operating over the holiday period primarily in the Waikato region surrounding Hamilton, while also supporting neighbouring areas from the Coromandel Peninsula to Waitomo and beyond.
